We have a dream: The Little Prince Museum in Turkey


The Little Prince Museum Initiative (Turkey) has nearly 90 members of the Little Prince book collectors in Turkey. The Initiative was established in 2015, after a collective “The Little Prince Books of the World” Exhibition in Tayfa Kitapkafe, Ankara.

Since then, the members have been organizing book exhibitions, workshops; publish books about the Little Prince. They prepared two important digital publications for the Little Prince book collectors: “The Little Princes of the World” has information on 293 different languages/dialects and “The Little Princes of Turkey” has information on all Turkish versions of the book. These digital publications can be downloaded at the website of the Initiative.

Among these activities, the latest exhibition is an extraordinary one: The most comprehensive Little Prince book exhibition ever with 502 books.



An extraordinary Little Prince Exhibition in Ankara

The Little Prince Museum Initiative (Turkey) is organizing an extraordinary Little Prince exhibition in Ankara, Turkey. Totally 502 Little Prince books are exhibited in Kentpark AVM, Ankara (January 15 – February 12, 2016). Visitors can see a large collection of The Little Prince copies in 279 different languages/dialects from Asia, Africa, Europe, America and Oceania. There are also mini-books, special editions, books in Morse alphabet, Braille copies and books in rare languages/dialects. Visitors also have the opportunity to see the first editions of English and French published in 1943.

They learn the Turkish translation story of Little Prince starting with the very first Turkish edition from 1953, translated by Turkish poet Ahmet Muhip Dıranas and serialized in “Çocuk ve Yuva” (Child and Home) magazine to the latest versions.

Additionally, there is an interactive workshop for kids. They start by coloring the animal inside the boa constrictor and visit the asteroids. After learning each character on the asteroid, they go to the earth and meet with the fox. Once they repair the broken plane, they are ready to go the Little Prince’s asteroid. At the end they take a photo while flying with the migrating birds.
